Jokowi-JK, the first candidates register to General Elections Commission

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Joko Widodo dan Jusuf Kalla became the first candidate for president and vice president registering their name to General Elections Commission (KPU) on Monday, May 19, 2014.

The duo arrived at KPU's office in Central Jakarta, accompanied by politicians from four coalition members, namely Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), National Democrat (Nasdem), National Awakening Party (PKB), and People's Consciousness (Hanura) Party.

KPU opens for registration since Sunday and will be closed on Tuesday. After the registration process, the electoral body then will verify all the candidates' documents for four days until May 24.

After verification process, each candidate can complete their documents in three days. The eligible candidates then will be announced on May 31. The next day, KPU will announce the sequence number of each candidate for the presidential election on July 9, 2014.
