REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Phenomena Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the recent Jakarta Gubernatorial Election 2012 affects 2014 presidential election. A survey conducted by Institute Survey Indonesia (INSIS) to 1,070 respondents in 33 provinces in Indonesia concludes that many people expect a leader who can draw sympathy from people, just like Jokowi.
A researcher from INSIS, Mochtar W Oetomo, said on Sunday that about 95.51 percent of respondents in the survey conducted from November 16 to December 4 wanted national leader who closed to people. The respondents hope their leader can follow suit Jokowi.
"It is suprising how Jokowi affects the 2014 presidential election," Oetomo said.
About 94.67 percent of respondents also said that they need alternative candidate. "They want some new faces, not the old ones," he said.
Meanwhile, about 88.78 percent expects firm leader in making decision. "This is the anti-thesis from the current leader who seems indistinct," he said.
