Palestinian Ambassador collects batik from many areas in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Palestine Ambassador to Indonesia, Fariz Mehdawi, said batik was a part of great culture of Indonesia. "It is quite impressive for me. I enjoy wearing it," he said.

Mehdawi revealed that he had vast collection on batik. He has a habit that he always buys batik from every area that he travels. "Because certain area in Indonesia has certain pattern and color of batik," he said.

He told that loved simple batik, with one or three colour. “But I think green and pink is not suitable for me,” he said. He also explained that almost every Palestinian who had visited Indonesia had at least one batik. “They are starting to wearing it in regular basis,” he said.
