REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Surabaya will host the Asian Fashion Week 2014 at Ciputra World on August 15-16, 2014. President and CEO Group Fashion Week, Arwin Sharma said that initially this event should be held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. However, some concerns related to facilities in Ulan Bator make the event will be held in Surabaya instead.

"Asian and international fashion designers concern about the high costs, travel times, and flights to Ulan Bator, Mongolia," Sharma said on Tuesday.

He believes that Indonesia, especially Surabaya is the right city, which regarded as the second largest city in Indonesia.

This event is one of a series of events from Group Fashion Week, including Indian Ocean Fashion Week and Silk Road Fashion Week, World Islamic Fashion Week and World Indigenous Fashion Week. Asian Fashion Week aims to promote and integrate global fashion industry in various countries and also build an international fashion business. Almost all Asian countries, as well as Europe, US and Australia will participate in the event.
