REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, opened the 16th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair, Inacraft 2014, at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday. The president expressed his hope that Indonesian handicraft industry would continue to be developed in order to compete in foreign countries.

"Keep on developing the craft industry with high spirits," the head of state remarked in his opening address.

Themed "From Smart Village to Global Market" with the subtitle "The Charisma of Central Java", the show will be held from April 23 to 27 at the Jakarta Convention Center with new and profitable business opportunities are showcased to all the participants.

Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair is one of the leading gift and handicraft industry related trade events in Indonesia. The show goes a long way in helping participants learn more about the latest market trends and industry developments from this sector. 

More than 1.5 thousand professional exhibiting companies are present at the show, including a large contingent of foreign exhibitors.

An extensive array of home decoration items, garden designing concepts, gift products, embroidered garments and fashion apparels are on display at the show, offering top notch corporate networking scopes to corporate attendees as well. Exquisite batik prints and paintings are exhibited at the show as well. 

Senior representatives from the National Handicrafts Council and other governmental organizations also feature amongst those present at the show. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, handicraft industry in 2013 contributed 92.6 trillion IDR against the national economy.
