REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Vice president Jusuf Kalla said simultaneous general election in 2019 will be the most complicated in the world, as the draft of law on the holding the election was delayed.

“This would be the most complicated election in the world,” said Kalla in Jakarta on Tuesday (May 23).

Indonesian government planned to combine legislative and presidential election. Kalla said it should not be changed every five years as it potentially brings many conflicts.

He said the organizers might face difficulty in counting the votes. It was predicted to be worsening when legislative election was held openly.

According to Kalla, the most important thing in the election was the data of voters. It should be well prepared and updated. As a big country, Indonesia needed more time to collect the voters’ data.

“Our experience in 2014 showed the discussion of amendment was late, but it was finished. The most important is that not many changes,” said him.

Meanwhile, the draft of Law on General election was still discussed by the government and the House of Representatives. It was predicted to be finished on June, delayed from the previous target. Kalla said election in other countries was only prepared on three months.
