Community leaders support for intimidation-free presidential election

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN - Religious, traditional and cultural leaders in North Sumatra declared their support for presidential election on July 9 to be held free from intimidation and violance. 

North Sumatran Head of National and Political Unity and People's Protection (Kesbangpol Linmas), Eddy Syofian said that the agreement was declared in a public dialogue of Peaceful Presidential Election, Prevent the Violence.

"All leaders ask military and police officers to take firm actions against the perpetrators who want to spark violence or disturb polling stations, intimidation and provocation to people who will cast their votes," Syofian said recently.

Syofian is optimistic that presidential election in North Sumatra will be able to run well, peacefully and smoothly.
