REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (popularly known as Ahok) is considered to accompany Chief Patron of Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Prabowo Subianto (presidential candidate of Gerindra) as vice president.

"All figures have opportunities to become vice president of Gerindra, including Mr Ahok. He has the character and the competence," Deputy Chairman of Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon, said on Tuesday.

Ahok has decisive leadership style and good performance in running his duty as Jakarta deputy governor. Gerindra continues to establish communication with various parties, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa of National Mandate Party (PAN). There are also other names, namely West Java Governor (Ahmad Heryawan), former Chairman of Constitutional Court (Mahfud MD) and Surabaya Mayor (Tri Rismaharini).

"Of course we will take aspirations as inputs for us," Zon added.

Zon said that Gerindra would still wait for the result of legislative election as its current focus. The party targeted to sweep majority votes this year.
