REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa held bilateral meeting with the visiting Senior Vice Minister for Economic and Fiscal Policy of Japan, Yasutoshi Nishimura on Sunday. During the meeting, Nishimura expressed seriousness of Japan government related to development of Indonesia's largest coal fired power plant in Batang regency, Central Java with capacity of 2x1,000 mega watt.

"We seek commitment and cooperation from Indonesia, since the power plant in Central Java has the most efficient technology to benefit Indonesia," Nishimura said on Sunday.

Japanese government worried that the land acquisition would disrupt the talks on their bilateral cooperation. But Rajasa said that the disputed area was not big.

"It's a small area but vital since the location lays in the middle of plant location," Rajasa said.

In a coordination meeting in middle of May, government believed that ground breaking would be conducted according to the completion of financial closing in October 2013. Land settlement would be submitted to local government and Bimasena Power Indonesia (BPI).

Rajasa said Indonesia and Japan were not only committed to improve trade and investment between both countries, but also in ASEAN region, especially to face ASEAN Economy Community in 2015 and Regional Economy Partnership. Japan also expressed its interest to invest in renewable energy, such as geothermal, wind, solar and biomass.
