REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDRAMAYU -- The long drought that hit Indramayu Regency, West Java, made the rice crop area dry. Currently, 10,673 hectares of rice crop area in the national food granary area are threatened with puso (crop failure) due to drought.
The situation has worried farmers. If the water supply is not immediately thrown into their rice fields, then the threat of crop failure is only waiting for time, which is sure to significantly reduce the area's rice production.
Chairman of Andalan Fishermen's Farmers Contact (KTNA) of Indramayu District, Sutatang, said that the 10,673 hectare rice crop area under threat is spread over six districts in the western Indramayu region. Namely, Sub-districts Sukra, Patrol, Anjatan, Bongas, Gabuswetan and Kandanghaur.
“The most extensive drought-affected area is in Sukra District,” Sutatang told Republika on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
He detailed that out of the total paddy area of 3,445 hectares in Sukra District, 2,500 hectares were affected by drought. Further, Patrol District, out of 3,175 hectares of paddy area, affected by drought, 2,100 hectares, and in Anjatan Subdistrict out of a total of 6,150 hectares, affected by drought, there are 2,000 hectares.
