REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR - Operations to evacuate the Sukhoi Super Jet 100 victims were formally brought to a close on Friday, 10 days after the plane crashed into Mount Salak, Bogor. Basarnas chief announced the end of the operations at the Halim Perdanakusuma air force base.

"At around 3 p.m., the chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Daryatmo officially concluded the operations," Basarnas search mission coordinator Ketut Parwa said at Pasir Pogor camp in Cipelang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday.

On the tenth day, however, the joint Russian and Indonesian team is still searching for the flight data recorder and other aircraft debris needed by Russia. Until Friday, 37 body bags containing the remains of the victims and their belongings had been sent to Halim Perdanakusuma.

Things left in the ravine are only the debris of the plane. "About 400 meter from the ravine of sukhoi crash is clear," the head of Bogor branch of Indonesian Red Cross, Abidin, said.

The team was forced to cut down some trees during the evacuation as some parts of the victims' bodies trapped between the branches. "We cut them to ease the evacuation," he added.

The Indonesian Red Cross is decided to draw the volunteer of the evacuation. "Our focus was to evacuate the victims. The debris of the plane including black box are not our duty," he added.
