President Prabowo Invites Vladimir Putin to Indonesia

Putin last visited Indonesia during the APEC Summit in Bali on October 7, 2013.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, VLADIVOSTOK -- President Prabowo Subianto frankly invited Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian delegation to visit Indonesia. He admitted that he has visited Russia four times since becoming president of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024.

Earlier, Prabowo was twice to the Kremlin Palace, Moscow and once to Saint Petersburg, which is Putin's hometown. According to him, his fourth visit to Russia is an important part of strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia.

“This is already my second visit to Russia in 2026. In fact, this is the fifth (should be the fourth) time I have met President Putin since I became president of Indonesia,” Prabowo said during a speech at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), Vladivostok, Thursday (3/9/2026) at noon local time.

He also promised that he would welcome Putin in Jakarta very kindly. Not to forget, this also applies to official delegations of the Russian government. “I hope to repay the hospitality that Russia has given me, and welcome President Putin and all of you to Indonesia,” Prabowo said.
