President Jokowi greeted with 'Halo-Halo Bandung' song

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Arriving at Merdeka Building here on Thursday, President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, was greeted by numerous Military (TNI) members with the song "Halo-Halo Bandung."

President Jokowi arrived at Merdeka building to oversee the preparations for the 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) in Bandung.

The head of state left Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport for Bandung at 10 a.m. local time, aboard the presidential aircraft.

In front of Merdeka building, the TNI members grouped in the Army Orchestra chanted "Halo-Halo Bandung" to greet President Jokowi.

During the visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by Presidential Chief of Staff Luhut B. Pandjaitan who is the chairman for the National Committee of the AAC commemoration, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi, Coordinating Minister for Culture and Human Development Puan Maharani, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, and Bandung Mayor M. Ridwan Kamil.

Earlier, Luhut Pandjaitan remarked on Wednesday that the preparations for the event were almost 100 percent complete.

The AAC's 60th anniversary celebrations will be held in Jakarta and Bandung from April 19 to 24. Indonesia has invited 109 countries in Asia and Africa to attend the event.
