Indonesia Farm Machine Promoted in Marocco

The agricultural machinery and machinery industry is able to contribute 10 percent to the national GDP.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Rabat Morocco held The Indonesia-Morocco Business Forum on Strengthening Industrial Cooperation. The forum was aimed at increasing the access of national industrial products markets, in particular agricultural machinery tools to nontraditional export markets.

The business forum held on April 24, 2024 was part of the agenda of the 16th Salon International de l'Agriculture au Maroc (SIAM) Meknes held in Meknes, Morocco. “This is one of the government's efforts to facilitate national industry players to expand their market access, especially to nontraditional countries,” said Secretary of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industries (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry Sopar Halomoan Sirait in an official statement on Thursday (25/4/2024).

On the occasion of SIAM Meknes 2024, he said, the Ministry of Industry and KBRI Rabat brought together and introduced various Indonesian agricultural machinery products to businessmen in Morocco. Especially in the field of agribusiness, the goal is to establish cooperation between the two countries.

The business forum presented the Confederation Generale Des Entreprises Du Maroc (CGEM) as the association that houses businessmen in Morocco. There is also the Center for the Development of Islamic Trade (ICDT) which is an organization with the mission of promoting trade and investment in the countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) based in Casablanca.

There are also associations of Moroccan export and import operators, as well as leading business operators in Morocco. Meanwhile, from the Indonesian side, present as a speaker was the Secretary General of the Association of Indonesian Agricultural Machinery and Machinery Employers (ALSINTANI), a representative of PT. Golden Agin Nusa, and representatives of PT Indo Baja Primamurni.

Sopar said that the agricultural tools and machinery industry is one of the sectors that play an important role in supporting the strengthening of the implementation of the national agricultural strategy. “The agricultural equipment and machinery industries are also able to make a fairly significant contribution to national GDP of 10 percent,” he said.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Morocco Hasrul Azwar stated that Morocco has the potential of cooperation with Indonesia in the field of agricultural machinery. This is in view of Morocco making agricultural activity a major contributor to its economic growth.

“Through this forum, it is expected to establish partnerships between Indonesian and Moroccan business people, especially in the field of agricultural machinery. This is as part of Indonesia's participation in SIAM Meknes 2024, which is the largest agricultural exhibition in Africa,” he explained.
