REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta Metro Jaya police confiscated thousands of firecrackers at a fireworks factory in Tangerang District, Banten, Director of Special Criminal Detective Affairs of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Senior Commissioner Mujiyono stated here, Thursday.
The police also detained the owner of the fireworks factory, Mujiyono noted.
In addition, the police also seized other evidences, such as raw materials and equipment used for manufacturing firecrackers.
The Jakarta Metro Jaya police are intensifying raids to catch people involved in the manufacture and trade of firecrackers before New Year's Eve.
Chief of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Inspector General Tito Karnavian has even instructed his personnel to take firm action against manufacturers, sellers, and users of firecrackers.
Firecrackers endanger the society, so the police should take precaution by raiding the manufacturing units.
