REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TERNATE -- North Maluku Police chief Suroto said in the past one year, there were 10 personnel who signed disrespectful dismissal. They reported to have committed gross violations during service.
"There are 10 personnel who fired in two stages. First stage is six people and second is four people," said Suroto on Monday (July 1).
Suroto admitted that most of them were involved in drugs case. Since March, those personnel have been fired to give deterrent effect.
According to Suroto, decisive action for personnel who commit criminal acts and damage police image is necessary. He also said police should actually improve services to people.
He regretted that police personnel commited violations in many forms. Suroto stressed he would not hesitate to fire personnel whose act is qualified for violations.
Earlier, drug trafficiking in North Maluku was reported quite high. From January until July 2018, there were 37 cases that handled by North Maluku Police.
