REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Some 1,322 joint personnels of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Headquarters (Polda Metro Jaya) and the resort police have been deployed to secure the arrival and convoys of athletes returning from the Rio Olympics 2016.
"The security arrangements involve all elements of the police force," Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Police Commissioner Awi Setiyono stated here on Tuesday.
Awi revealed that 1,145 personnel of Polda Metro Jaya and 177 personnel of the Task Force Metro Police Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as well as the Central Jakarta Metro Police had been deployed. Officers involved in securing vital objects, include intelkam, detectives, Sabhara, and traffic police and are spread across several locations.
Some of the locations to be secured, include the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), hotel, and Presidential State Palace. In addition, the personnel will secure the roads to be taken by the Olympic athletes' entourage.
According to the plan, the Olympic athletes will arrive through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday (Aug. 23).
Furthermore, the group of Indonesian athletes will cross Tol Dalam Kota-Pintu Tol Semanggi-Jalan Gerbang Pemuda-Jalan Asia Afrika-Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-Jalan MH Thamrin-Kemenpora Building.
The convoy will also pass through Kemenpora Building-Jalan Pemuda-Jalan Asia Afrika-Pintu I Senayan-Jalan Sudirman-Jalan MH Thamrin-Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat-Presidential Palace on Wednesday (Aug. 24).
