REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Directorate General (Directorate General) of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections improves the security features of the Republic of Indonesia Passport periodically. One of the newest features on the Indonesian passport design is the fluorescent invisible multicolor ink on each visa page where the image will glow under ultraviolet light.

Passports with this latest security feature began to be issued as early as November 2025. However, the Republic of Indonesia passport with old security features will still be issued until the stock is exhausted.

“Old passports that have been issued remain valid and valid until their validity expires, so people do not need to make a sudden early replacement,” said Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, in a statement on Thursday (13/11/2025).

Yuldi insists this policy is taken to ensure comfort and certainty of service for all passport applicants at home and abroad. Yuldi stated that the improvement of passport security features is part of the transformation of immigration services to strengthen the position of the Republic of Indonesia passport at the global level.

“The Directorate General of Immigration is constantly improving the quality of services, including ensuring that our passports are more secure and reliable in the international world. With this latest security feature, we want to provide comfort and a sense of security for Indonesian citizens traveling abroad,” Yuldi said.

Yuldi explains the passport as a travel document while simultaneously carrying a philosophy of nationhood that is reflected in every element of it. Each sheet in the passport contains illustrations of the cultural and natural beauty of the archipelago as a form of promotion of Indonesian cultural diplomacy to the rest of the world.

This image of cultural wealth and natural beauty is one of the enhanced security features of the Indonesian passport by using multicolor invisible fluorescent ink to increase the security and beauty of the Republic of Indonesia passport.

“A strong passport will strengthen the nation's position. We hope that this innovation will add value to every Indonesian citizen's journey around the world,” Yuldi said.
