REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANTUL -- The Bantul Police have arrested three people suspected of using and dealing with methamphetamine.

Head of the Bantul Police Drug Unit Rudy Prabowo stated in Bantul on Monday that all three suspects were arrested within two days on Thursday and Friday in the Jogjakarta and Central Java areas.

"The three suspects we had arrested are linked. There is one user and two dealers who also used the drug," he stated at a conference at the Bantul Police headquarters.

Prabowo further explained that 23-year-old suspect Mulya Angga Wijaya was arrested on Thursday at around 10 p.m. local time while he was driving a car and was suspected to have just finished dealing with another individual, who was also apprehended.

"We searched his car and seized evidence, which was a plastic package of methamphetamine concealed in the middle of the car seat. We then took it to the headquarters," he revealed.

From the police team's investigation, Prabowo was able to locate the dealer from which Wijaya had bought his illicit goods.

"He admitted to have obtained the 0.28 grams of meth from his lady friend in Kendal, Central Java, before he took it to Jogjakarta. We then developed the case from there and arrested the second suspect on August 5 in Kendal," he noted.

The second suspect has been identified as Erwin Suwkeni Hastutik, and police officers have seized a meth pipe and a cell phone from her.

"We then further investigated the case, and it was revealed that our second suspect got her supplies from another friend named Narti. We then took her into custody on the same day in Batang, Central Java, along with some meth usage tools," he reiterated.

For their acts, the suspects will be charged for violating State Law Number 5 of 1997 on psychotropic goods and Law Number 36 of 2009 on Health.

The suspects are liable to face a minimum of five years and maximum of 20 years behind bars.
