Donald Trump is a highly controversial figure. The property businessman that experienced many bankruptcy also entered the world of entertainment to become a sponsor of Miss Universe. He also became famous for his 'Apprentice' show on NBC.
His political ideology is paradoxical. In one hand he claimed to be republican conservative who should oppose what is considered "immoral" in religion. However, on the other hand he promoted various illicit businesses, including gambling and prostitution.
Trump entered the real political world because of two things. First, it was because his hatred over the election of the first black man, Barack Obama, as president of the United States. And second, it was because Trump likes "high profile publicity". And campaign for the presidency was one of fastest ways to be more popular.
Since entering political world, Trump already showed his original character which is arrogant and racist. Started from his efforts to find a gap to knock Barack Obama by trying to find out where he was born and by insisting the president's birth certificate to be published. It was because the American president was required for those who were born on America. Citizens who were born outside the United States by the Constitution are not eligible to be president.
After Barack Obama, his hatred was unleashed into China/Asia community. Then he was underestimating Hispanics, particularly Mexicans. Even they were labeled as citizens of robbers and rapists. The last before the Muslims, African community in the US was angry to Trump who said that they are lazy.
Therefore when Trump conveyed statements about Islam, I think it was not for the first time. That's the way of God to expose who and how the true personality of Trump. And I was very confident with the exposure. It would be very foolish if the American people choose Trump as their leader.
Two days ago, when I was landing at the airport in Banda Aceh, I met one of Deputy Secretary of the United States. He asked: "how do you feel about the statement of Trump?"
I replied briefly: "I am not offended by his statement". He was surprised and asked: "Why? I am offended by this man."
I replied: "As an official, you must be offended. Trump has attacked the very values of America, and he is destroying what America stands for."
The point that I wanted to say was, if you really love America you must be angry because Trump undermined the cherished American values. Even embarrassing, because as a candidate he has trampled the American constitution.
Then I added: "And I am not offended Because I am an Imam. As an Imam I have to be patient".
