REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Golongan Karya Party (Golkar) has brought up names that are likely to be promoted to become candidates for governor (cagub) of Jakarta. However, the party with the symbol of the banyan tree has still not determined which party will be used as a coalition in Jakarta's local elections (local elections).

Secretary of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Jakarta Golkar DKI Party Basri Baco said that his party could not field a candidate alone in the Jakarta elections.

Because, the seats won by the Golkar Party in the legislative election (election) of DKI Jakarta 2024 did not reach 20 percent. This means that the Golkar Party must coalesce with other parties to carry the Jakarta cagub.

“We can't get ahead on our own, we only have 10 seats. We need 10-12 (seats) more, at a minimum. So it should be together with one major party or two moderate parties,” he said in Puncak area, Bogor, Friday (26/4/2024).

Baco said his party planned to again build a coalition with the pro-Prabowo-Gibran party or the Forward Indonesia Coalition in the Jakarta elections. That is, it is likely that the Golkar Party will go into coalition with the Gerindra Party, the Democratic Party, and the National Mandate Party (PAN).

According to him, the number of seats when the Golkar Party cooperates with the party supporting Prabowo-Gibran is enough to carry the cagub. However, it still has to be communicated further.

“Does Gerindra have a candidate or not? We don't know. Does PAM exist or not? It could be Golkar equals Gerindra. Grinder number 1 or golkar number 1. See later,” he said.

Baco said that the names likely to be carried by his party in the Jakarta elections are still the same. The names were Ridwan Kamil, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, and Erwin Aksa.

He added that so far the party has not planned to carry names from outside the Golkar Party. According to him, it will prioritize names from within the party to be transferred to the Jakarta cagub.

“I haven't heard and haven't seen that from other cadres we will. Because we have cadres. Unless you don't have a cadre,” he said.
