REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- As many as 120,733 tourists visited Jakarta's Ragunan Zoo on the first day of 2015 on Thursday, Chief of the Zoo Development Center Police Commissioner I Ketut Sudarsana said.
"The number of visitors we saw on New Year's Day was almost the same as that seen on other major holidays last year," Sudarsana stated here on Thursday.
As was seen in previous years as well, visitors thronged the zoo and caused major traffic congestions on the roads that led to Ragunan, including Jalan R. M. Harsono and Jalan Kabagusan Raya.
Furthermore, Sudarsana deployed 363 security officers, volunteers and scout movements to ensure security and maintain orderliness. However, he noted that the number was not ideal because one person was supposed to be made in charge of handling some 280 visitors.
