REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan pledged efficiency in licensing procedure saying that processing of application for business license would be completed in a single day. He vowed that the bureaucracy must improve its efficiency.

"There is no more unnecessary delay in issuing licenses. If application is received before 12.00  am then the processing should be completed in the same day," he told business leaders at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).

One day process must proceed, regardless to number of applications submitted in one day, the minister said. He also plans to extend the validity of license such as from one year to five years.

"Let us make a simpler licensing procedure so hopefully the bundles of documents would not pile up," he said.

He said licensing was part of the regulation that became the focus in his work to be handled immediately in the first years of his five years term. It was low cost matter to be handled.

"First I will handle the regulations as they are the least to need budget. They need only papers and pens," he said.

He said he was optimistic that if problems in regulations could be sorted out immediately completion of other work could be accelerated such as in investment.
