REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan considered the odd-even traffic policy should not be applied for online taxis. Online taxis would be immune from that policy and he said special signs would be given to identify online taxis vehicle.
“We already discussed with online taxi management and Transportation Office about the special signs, so the vehicles that used as online taxis can be marked,” said Anies on Monday.
Anies said the extended of odd-even traffic policy is currently in socialization stage, which only exempted yellow-plate transportation. Meanwhile, other transportations, including vehicles of goods and passenger services with black-plate do not get exceptions.
Therefore, Anies said the policy will be considered again and for those kind of vehicles will get exceptions. It will be a serious measure and preparation to identify black-plate vehicles that get exceptions was ongoing.
“Now the signs are being prepared, so later online taxis, which have black-plate can be excluded from the policy too,” Anies added.
Jakarta Provincial Government decided to expand the odd-even traffic policy, which aims to curb the worsening air pollution congestion in the capital. The plan for the extension was included in 2019 gubernatorial instruction and would officially start on Sept 1, following a trial this August.
