REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Director of Bank Central Asia (BCA), Suwignyo Budiman said that the bank's non performing loan (NPL) gross increased slightly in second half of 2014, from 0.4 percent to 0.5 percent. The increase was due to the company's policy to increase its interest rates on credit which impacted its customers.a

"I think the total NPL was not much, only 0.5 percent higher than last year," Budiman said recently.

The figure is considered still acceptable following the increase of all banking loans. However, company remains cautious to suppress the NPL level in future.

BCA's credit growth in the first half 2014 also slowed down compared to last year as predicted by Bank Indoensia (BI). All banking companies in Indonesia showed similar performance. The slowdown occured in all loan sectors, especially consumer loans. Budiman hopes that the credit growth can be better in the second half of the year, but still in line with BI's direction around 15-17 percent.
