REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -  Former chief justice of Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD, agreed to lead the campaign team for Prabowo-Hatta, Chairman of National Mandate Party, Hatta Rajasa confirmed on Tuesday. 

"Indeed," Rajasa said. 

Mahfud was previously nominated as vice presidential candidate by National Awakening Party (PKB) to accompany Joko Widodo (known as Jokowi). However, Jakarta governor finally picked a senior politician of Gorlak Party, Jusuf Kalla. Mahfud and Rhoma Irama succeed to help PKB collecting nine percent of votes during the recent general elections. Mahfudz then throws his support behind Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, Hatta Rajasa.

Mahfud's name will be immediately submitted to General Election Commission (KPU). Rajasa said that Mahfud could help increasing the coalition power.

Deputy Chairman of Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon added that the campaign team will be established soon. Some other public figures willing to join the campaign team are Harry Tanoesoedibjo (Hanura Party cadre), Rhoma Irama (PKB cadre) and also Ahmad Dhani (musician).

"I called him (Mahfud MD) and then he agreed to help (for Prabowo-Hatta candidacy)," Zon said.
