Former top tennis player secures a seat at the parliament

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - The former world top 20 tennis player, Yayuk Basuki, secures a seat at the House of Representative. The representative of National Mandate Party (PAN) reached significant votes in general election on April 9, 2014.

Based on calculation, General Election Commission (KPU) in Central Java recorded that Basuki got 25,615 votes from the first constituency in Central Java, namely Semarang city (11,112 votes), Semarang regency (7,518 votes), Kendal (6,403 votes) and Salatiga (582 votes).

Jamal Mirdad, veteren singer who is a candidate of Gerindra Party also get a seat at the parliament after winning 39,760 votes. He got 17,879 votes in Semarang city, Semarang regency (9,414 votes), Kendal (10,295 votes) and Salatiga (2,172 votes). Some other celebrities also succeed to become legislators are Lucky Hakim, Anang Hermansyah, Dede Yusuf, Jamal Mirdad, Rachel Maryam,Desy Ratnasari, Ikang Fauzi and Eko Patrio.
