REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG - State owned seaport operator, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry stops all crossing trips to East Nusa Tenggara and also to islands in the province, following high wave in the waters. Operation Manager of ASDP Indonesia Ferry in East Nusa Tenggara, Helim Welkis said that the company had stopped the operation since Thursday to all islands in East Nusa Tenggara, except Rote Ndao island.

However, ASDP decided to close a short distance crossing to Rote island starting on Sunday as high waves in waters estimated to increase. The decision was made as a precaution measure to ensure security and safety of shipping.

Welkis said he was not sure when the crossing trip since the schedule depended on the weather.

"We will continue to coordinate with The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to find out  weather update in East Nusa Tenggara waters," Welkis said on Sunday.
