The peak of returning trip season in Merak port starts on Sunday

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MERAK - The returning trip in Merak port (Banten) from Bakauheni port (Lampung) is expected to peak on Sunday, August 11 and seven days after Eid al-Fitr. Public Relation of Indonesia Ferry (ASDP) in Merak, Mario Sardadi Oetomo said most of workers and civil servants had to work on Monday.

"Currently, Merak and Bakauheni port are relatively normal. We believe backflow of passengers will be happened on Sunday," Oetomo said on Saturday.

ASDP predicted backflow would exceed homebound flow. Many people would bring their additional family member or domestic helper. ASDP would operate 28 roll on roll off (roro) ships for 90 trips.

Around 90 trips Merak - Bakauheni ports a day are expected to overcome queue by passenger's vehicles. Based on data, during homecoming flow before, Merak port ferried 528,658 people, 53,566 units of motorcycles and 56,429 units of four wheeled vehicles.
