Jokowi asks people to keep tolerance in Ramadhan

Jokowi ask people to maintain ukhuwah islamiyah and ukhuwah wathoniyah.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked people to perform worship with peaceful and clean heart during Ramadhan. He also urged the people to respect each other, in accordance with the lesson from Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Jokowi also asked people to maintain tolerance and promote harmony. He said the people must maintain fraternity and ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), also ukhuwah wathoniyah (national brotherhood).

"Happy fasting month of Ramadhan 1439 H to all Muslims, Jokowi said through official release on Thursday (May 17).

Government officially decided the fasting month 2018 or first day of Ramadhan 1439 H begins on Thursday (May 17) based on the results of Isbat (decision) session held at Ministry of Religious Affairs on last May 15.

The Isbat session was attended by among others representatives of Islamic mass organisations, astronomers, and a number of guests.
