REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BAKAUHENI - Some returning Eid al Fitr holiday makers were already seen coming at the Bakauheni port in Lampung, Sumatra, on Wednesday. They queued for ferry tickets at the port to go back to Java.

Although the line was not long but they had kept arriving by bus, motorcycles, or private cars. Port operator PT ASDP has opened five counters to serve the ferry passengers.

The traffic in the trans-Sumatra road from the town of Bandarlampung to the port was smooth except at certain points where tourist objects are located as many cars were lining to enter the locations such as Pasir Putih Beach, Selaki Beach, and Kalianda Resort.

Meanwhile a total of 4,531 holiday makers had arrived at East Jakarta's Kampung Rambutan bus terminal from 8 am to 2 pm, two days after the fall of Eid al Fitr.

"We do not see drastic hike of passengers so far," transport service official at the terminal, Sugiyono, said.

He predicted holiday makers would start arriving in big numbers four, five and six days after the Eid a Fitr day which fell on Monday.

The director general of land transportation, Suroyo Alimoeso, meanwhile inspected transportation situation in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday. He predicted the peak of returning holiday makers would be on Saturday or Sunday.
