REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Aviation turbine (avtur) fuel consumption in and around Jakarta rose 11.9 percent during the peak of Eid-al-Fitr return flow on Saturday (June 8). Data from state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina made available to Antara on Sunday showed Soekarno-Hatta Airport west of Jakarta recorded the highest increase in avtur consumption.
The airport saw avtur consumption rising 12.6 percent or 868.14 kiloliters to 6,890 kiloliters compared to the average daily consumption, manager of communication relations and corporate social responsibility (CSR ) unit of PT Pertamina Marketing Operation Region (MOR) III Dewi Sri Utami said. Avtur consumption at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta increased 11.8 percent.
However, avtur consumption at Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java, Pondok Cabe, Airport in South Tangerang, Banten and Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka, West Java, declined.
"The increase in avtur consumption has to do with the frequency of flights, which are one of homeward holidaymakers' choices. We always keep supplies because today is still the peak of Eid-al-Fitr return flow and employees will return to work tomorrow after Eid-al-Fitr collective leave ends," she said.
