Hundreds of students have national exams at flood shelters

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -  Hundreds of students from four junior high schools must take national exams on Monday at the flood shelters after Wulan River's levee collapsed. The flood inundated the area on saturday evening.

The four schools, SMPN 2 Mijen, MTS Miftahul Huda Mijen, SMP Bhakti Negara at Mijen and MTS Darussalam Jetak, should be evacuated after water level as high as 50 to 150 centimeters.

"We must evacuate students and made them have their national exams ath the flood shelters," an local official from Ministry of Education and Culture, Afhan Noor, said on Sunday.

The floods also caused more than seven thousand residents to flee from homes. A refugee, Supandi said that he got warning to evacuate immediately on Saturday then the flood really inundated the area on Saturday evening.
