REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesian air forces Fokker-27 aircraft crashed on Thursday is airworthy according to the Deputy Head of Air Forces Staff, Dede Rusamsi. The crashed airplane still has the remaining 23 days to fly.
"The aircraft is still airworthy based on the early check. We still investigate the cause," Rusamsi said on Friday in Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase.
Meanwhile, nine new airplanes of CN 295 are prepared to replace the old one. "Two airplanes will come on September, one in December, and the rest in 2014," he said.
The pilot and the crew were also in the fit condition before they took off. The Pilot Herry Setiawan has recorded of 3,325 flight hours.
A member of House of Representative, Tubagus Hasanuddin, said the aircraft should have been replaced because it had been used since 1976. While a military observer, Poengky Indarti, criticized the insufficient Indonesian National Army airplane. He said it was the time for government to improve the air and sea fleets.
