Ministry checks airworthiness of 552 planes

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The Transportation Ministry conducted ramp check of 552 planes which will be used as aircraft before Eid 1437 Hijri.

"We've been checked since May 27, to this day a total of 1,624 inspections in 35 airports across Indonesia on 552 planes," Director of Land Transportation of Transportation Ministry Suprasetyo said in Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta airport, Tangerang, on Wednesday (22/6).

While a total of 552 planes has been checked already include backup planes. And for Eid transport this year will provided 529 aircraft. So the investigation has exceeded the planes that prepared. The checking includes legal and plane operations. Airworthiness of the aircraft was seen from the condition of the tires, brakes, until the frame, including examination of internal conditions such as air conditioner (AC) until availability of oxygen.

"Generally, all of the planes were in good condition. Only small findings were not significant and could be repaired immediately. If previously there were five major findings but now corrected all and has been in operation again," he said.

Suprasetyo expected ramp check process can be completed on Thursday June 23.
