REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The obsolete infrastructure of Air Traffic Control (ATC) would be upgraded, but it would take some times as it needed research to fit the specification, the Executive Director of Angkasa Pura III, Tri S Sunoko, said.

"Now, already we have it tendered," he said on Tuesday.

He admitted that Air Traffic Controller in Soekarno Hatta Airport had been used since 1997 and had not been upgraded yet. ATC would also have a new building next year.

"It is now being prepared by the Ministry of Transportation. The building will be finished next year in the third quarter," he said.

On the hearing meeting between the Commission of Transportation of House of Representatives and Trimarga Company and Angkasa Pura, the House questioned on the probable causes of Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash. The navigation, the properness of ATC equipments, and the number of human resources monitoring the ATC were among the main questions.

Tri said local flight was safe. "Do not overreact. The foreign flight which concerns about safety is willing to enter Indonesia, then it means that our system is safe. But, we agree that the development of equipments is necessary," Tri said the added, Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash might be caused by multifactor errors.
