Sandiaga Uno visits Ani Yudhoyono in Singapore

Ani Yudhoyono is currently being treated in National University Hospital Singapore.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice presidential candidate number 02 Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno accompanied with his wife Nur Asia Uno and his mother Mien R Uno visited former first lady Ani Yudhoyono at National University Hospital, Singapore, on Friday (Feb 22). They arrived at around 14.11 local time after performing Friday prayer at Tentera Diraja Mosque.

Sandiaga and his family were welcomed by Indonesian sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and eldest son Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). They spent about 30 minutes in the hospital.

According to SBY, general condition of his wife is getting better following intensive medical treatment. SBY was touched by floods of sympathies from Indonesian citizen.

SBY expressed his gratitude over attentions given to his family. He said that it has brought strength to him and his family.

"Thank you Sandi and wife, and Ibu Mien who is a close friend of Ibu Ani," SBY said in a written statement received by republika.co.id, on Friday.

SBY conveyed his apologize to all visitors who could not meet with his wife. He explained that the doctors told Ani to reduce direct contact with people, especially during treatment period.

"We have visited Ibu Ani and alhamdulillah we hear from Pak SBY that Ibu Ani runs medical treatment with optimism. We pray for her as she is our inspiration," Sandiaga said.

Ani was diagnosed with blood cancer and had been undergoing medical treatment in Singapore since February 2, 2019, on the recommendation of the Indonesian presidential medical team.
