REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police arrested a number of people who accused terrorism cases that happened recently as an engineering. According to the institution spokesman, Mohammad Iqbal, the arrests were made in order to be a lesson for them.
"It threatens stability of the society. National Police feels uncomfortable if terror cases is said to be engineered. We wait for the proof (of their accusation)," said Iqbal.
At least, there were three people arrested related to their statement on allegation of engineered terror cases. They are FSA (Junior High School N Kayong head), HDL (lecturer at North Sumatra University), and AAD (a security officer in North Sumatra).
The three people were known to spread the issue through social medias. According to Iqbal, terror attacks that happened recently were real.
"Even a movie director from Hollywood can't make it," Iqbal said on Monday.
Iqbal challenged anyone who believed terrorism cases in Indonesia are engineered to provide evidences and file a report to National Police. Meanwhile, in law enforcement efforts, the police have already put forward the due process of law against the suspects. The investigators have collected evidences and clues without neglecting the rights of the suspects.
Police along with other stakeholders also claimed to have made a soft approach on suspected terrorists. Along with relevant organizations, they also have conveyed the message of deradicalization to the community. Iqbal said nothing is covered up.
A lecturer at North Sumatra University, Himma Dewiana Lubis and a security officer at North Sumatra Bank Amaralsyah Dalimunthe were arrested on last weekend. Himma was arrested at her house on Melinjo II street, Johor Permain, Medan. Meanwhile, Amaralsyah was arrested also at his house at Karya Bakti street, Batu Nangar, Simangulun.
Himma informed that three bombing cases at three churches in Surabaya were only a diversion of issues. She said it was a perfect diversionary scenario and she completed the post on Facebook with #2019GantiPresiden.
After the statement went viral, Himma closed her Facebook account. However, it has been screenshot by many people and they shared in other social medias. Himma was arrested and threatened under Law No. 19/2016 on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).
Himma admitted to have uploaded the statement due to hashtag wars #2019GantiPresiden that happened recently. She who disappointed with current government decided to also use the hashtag.
Investigators have examined the witnesses and confiscated evidences in the form of mobile phone Iphone 6S and SIM card of suspect. The police also have been doing digital forensic to Himmas's phone to explore other motives, said North Sumatra Police head, Tatan Dirsan Atmaja.
Amaralsyah also wrote controversial status on his Facebook account. He said in Indonesia there is no terrorist, it is just fiction, the diversion of issue.
His statement hurt police and the families of terrorism victims, Tatan said.
Currently, Tatan said investigators are still processing the two cases. He also appealed to people not to made a careless comment on social media.
"Let's create peace when interacting in social medias. Be wise in social medias. Don't spread the hoax and cause hatred," Tatan added.
