REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A suicide bomb rocked the Cathedral Church in Makassar on Sunday. One person died as a result of this explosion in which the victim is suspected of being the suicide bomber.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the crime scene (TKP) was being carried out by police officers at the scene of the explosion, in front of the Cathedral Church, Jalan Kajaolalido, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
"Currently, TKP processing is being carried out, sweeping at the TKP and further handling of victims," said General Police Sigit in Jakarta, Sunday (28/3).
The Public Relations of the National Police will hold a press conference on the developments of this explosion incident on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday at around 10:20 WITA, an explosion allegedly occurred in a suicide bombing at the Cathedral Church, Jalan Kajaolalido, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.
At the location of the suicide bomb explosion there were found pieces of bodies in terrible condition, his body was crushed along with the motorbike he was driving.
According to eye witnesses in the vicinity of the incident, there was a loud explosion that caught the attention of local residents.
Witnesses said that shortly after the explosion was heard, a number of police officers went straight to the location in front of the cathedral and closed the police line.
South Sulawesi Police Chief (Sulsel) Inspector General of the Merdisyam Police confirmed that the number of victims who died was one person. "There is one person who died and that is a suicide bomber and is still in the process of identifying members," said Inspector General of Police Merdisyam.
The suicide bomber's body was crushed and several parts of his body were damaged by the explosion. The perpetrator of the suicide bombing did not get into the church after the security officers held him at the gate. At the same time the worship process in the church was finished.
