Anti-graft body detains Mojokerto district head

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained the Mojokerto district head after questioning him as a suspect in an alleged graft case, Monday. The district head, identified by his initials as MKP, to be detained for 20 days.

"After taking into account (his case), the investigators decided to detain him for 20 days at the KPK detention house in Kavling K4," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said here, Monday.

MKP refused to comment on his detention after undergoing questioning at the KPK building.

"Let's leave (the case) to law enforcement officers," he stated.

Earlier, the anti-graft body had searched a number of rooms at the office of the Mojokerto district government in East Java province, including those of the Mojokerto district head, the Mojokerto vice district head, the secretary of the Mojokerto district administration and the local education office.

The KPK also searched the Regional Income Board, the One-Stop Investment and Licensing Service Office, the Health Office and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP).

It also seized a number of luxury cars, jet ski and motorcycles belonging to the Mojokerto district head.

"I don't know what is the search related to. But it is likely related to the issue of tower," the district head remarked.
