REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Preparation of local elections which would be held simultaneously in 269 regions, on Wednesday (9/12), has reached 99 percent. Government was optimistic that the implementation of these simultaneous elections would run smoothly.
"The government is optimistic that the elections can all be run, except for areas that are prone to disasters," said Minister of Home Affairs, Tjahjo Kumolo, after holding a meeting of final preparations for the elections in General Election Commission (KPU), Jakarta, Sunday (6/12).
The budget, according to him, was almost 100 percent complete except for the budget in South Buru regency, Maluku, which was still remained Rp 500 million. The repayment was expected to be completed on Monday (7/12).
"Other areas have finished all the budget," he added.

Related to the simultaneous elections, he said, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has given directives to the police and the military to coordinate with National Intelligent Agency (BIN).
"The president on 9th December will be watching live via video conference to all areas that carry out the elections," said Tjahjo.
Meanwhile, KPU Chairman, Husni Kamil Manik, expressed readiness to hold elections simultaneously in 9 provinces, 224 regencies and 36 cities on Wednesday (9/12).
