22 women candidates win regional head elections in quick count

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- There were 124 women who became candidates in regional head elections 2015 in 264 regions in Indonesia. At least, 22 of them won the elections based on a quick count.

Candidate for Mayor of South Tangerang Airin Rachmi Diany claimed to gain 60 percent of the votes. Even so, she asked the public to remain calm in waiting for the final decision of General Election Commission (KPU).

"This is the quick count results. So we wait for real count results," said Airin, Wednesday (9/12).

Meanwhile, candidate for Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini also won the election based in quick count. Risma held the results of a quick count from the independent team who put her win over her opponent.

"I and Whisnu will face a new era called AEC. However, actually we had anticipated and we hoped people of Surabaya do not only be spectators in their own city," said Risma shortly after the announcement of quick count in Surabaya, Wednesday (9/12) afternoon.

4. Cellica Nurrachadiana, candidate for Regent of Karawang

5. Neni Moerniaeni, candidate for Mayor of Bontang

6. Rita Widyasari, candidate for Regent of Kutai Kertanegara

7. Chusnunia Chalim, candidate for Regent of Lampung Timur

8. Asmah Gani, candidate for Regent of Nunukan

9. Indah Putri Indriani, candidate for Regent of North Luwu

10. Anna Sophanah, candidate for Regent of Indramayu

11. Indah Damayanti Putri, candidate for Regent of Bima
