Candidate number three in Jakarta gubernatorial election, Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno, held a press conference after becoming runner up in the race, Jakarta, Wednesday (Feb 15).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Servant Assembly (Majelis Pelayan Jakarta, MPJ) has prepared for the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election. The scholars in the assembly believed there was no pair of candidates manages to secure a majority. "We want to have a coalition of Islamic parties to win Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno as governor of Jakarta," member of the Advisory Board MPJ KH Ahmad Luthfi Fatullah said to Republika.co.id in Jakarta, Wednesday (Feb 15) night.

Kiai Ahmad said MPJ would strive to shift the peoples' support for candidate number one, Agus Yudhoyono Harimurti-Sylviana Murni, to backed Anies-Sandi. Agus-Sylvi was stranded in the first round with the least vote. In order to discuss the winning strategies, he would like to meet with Agus-Sylvi and Anies-Sandi face to face. "But, keep in mind, MPJ has no interest to both candidates. We just want the governor of Jakarta derived from Islam," he explained.

Previously, before the existing coalition was formed, other parties tried to persuade PKB, PPP and PKS to support Agus-Sylvi and Anies-Sandi. Finally, the Islamic parties chose to join Democratic party and Gerindra party to support candidates number one and three of Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Based on MPJ analysis, people who vote for Agus-Sylvi because of faith will vote for Anies-Sandi in the second round. In case faith was not the cause, Kiai Ahmad predicted the mass will split into two. "Most of them will support Anies-Sandi, while a fraction will support Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok)-Djarot Saiful Hidayat," he said.
