REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BELITUNG -- As much as 150 astronomers from the United States (US) would visit Belitung to witness total solar eclipse on 9th March 2016.
Head of Promotion and Marketing of Tourism Department of Bangka Belitung Islands Ahmad Yani Hazir said, he had received representatives of astronomers from the US to look at the accommodation, lodging, and other facilities prepared by local government.
He explained, provincial and district governments have been preparing various tourism agenda to welcomed the total solar eclipse in three districts, namely Belitung, East Belitung and Central Bangka.
"Alhamdulillah, many astronomers, students and foreign and domestic tourists who are interested in the total solar eclipse," he said.
Ahmad said, hotels booking for 8th to 10th March 2016 has reached 80 percent. It showed that interest astronomers and tourists is quite high. The total solar eclipse was considered as a momentum to introduce world-class tourism which will be attended by foreign and domestic tourists.
