REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it hopes to find more suspects in the electronic identity card (E-KTP) corruption case this year. "I have repeatedly said I don't believe a corruption with state loss of Rp2.3 trillion had been committed only by two persons," KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo said after a hearing with the Commission III of the House of Representatives here on Wednesday.

So far the agency has succeeded in finding only enough evidence to name two persons suspects both officials of the Home Affairs Ministry.  The two are former director general for population and vital statistics Irman and former director for population administration information Sugiharto.

Irman is charged with price markup of Rp2.3 trillion from the budget of Rp6 trillion. Agus said he believed a network of many people were involved in the case.

House Speaker Setya Novanto has been summoned several times for questioning as his name was implicated by a corruption suspect in a related case.  Agus said he had not received the result of the latest investigation of Setya Novanto from the team of investigators. "The investigators would certainly report if there is something new found in the investigations," he said.

KPK has also sent investigators to Singapore to question one of the suppliers there. "I hope something significant could be found from the investigations in Singapore," he added.

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said there are three big groups implicated in the investigation of the case - the House of Representatives as the E-KTP project was discussed at the House, government institution mainly the Hose Affairs Ministry, which handled the project and the private sector.

KPK is especially intensive in investigating officials of the home affair ministry as the most responsible for the implementation of the project. "So far the suspects are only from the ministry," he said, adding certainly suspects could also come from other institutions.

Febri said so far more than 250 witnesses have been summoned for investigation.
