'Let's be the knight of Al Maidah verse 51'

Secretary-general of the Council of Young Indonesian Intellectuals and Ulamas (MIUMI) Bachtiar Nasir has invited all Muslims in Jakarta to be the knight of Quran surah Al Maidah verse 51.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Secretary-general of the Council of Young Indonesian Intellectuals and Ulamas (MIUMI) Bachtiar Nasir has invited all Muslims in Jakarta to be the knight of Quran surah Al Maidah verse 51.

Ahok apology should not stopped Muslim's struggle to vote for Muslim leader, as has taught by the verse. "It is not a multi-interpretative verse and Ahok's statement related Al Maidah verse 51 is painful for Muslims," he told Republika.co.id, Tuesday (11/10).

Therefore, he said it's reasonable for Muslims to file a lawsuit against Ahok. Moreover, Indonesia is democratic country. "Let's be the knights of Al Maidah verse 51," he said.

He hoped in the future there will be no more parties, especially the leaders did religious blasphemy against the Quran.

Meanwhile, Director General Crime Criminal Investigation of National Police Brigadier Agus Andrianto said police should not involved in political affairs, towards the simultaneously local elections (Pilkada) in 2017.

Therefore Andrianto said the police should be very cautious in handling political case, including Ahok's case. "I have to make sure there is no mistake, no interference and no body is using the police as a tool," he said when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/12).

Andrianto has asked the National Police Central Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) to check the authenticity of a video showing Ahok statement about the Holy Quran surah Al Maidah verse 51. He assured the forensic result will be made available to the public. "Please oversee our objectivity in handling the case," he said.

In seperate place, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin  and Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) have discussed Ahok and Al Maidah verse 51 case. MUI urged Muslims to forgive Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) who did religous blasphemy Alquran and insult Islamic clerics. "We appreciate MUI's decision to forgive those who have apologized," Lukman said at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/12).

Lukman expressed his appreciation to the public for filing the case into the legal process. "Muslims are mature and wise," he said.
