Aircraft N219 made in Indonesia 80 percent ready

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) will launch an aircraft type N219 at the end of this year. According to the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Muhammad Nasir, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) will try to finish the production of the aircraft on time.

Deputy of LAPAN Space Flight Technology, Rika Andiarti explained, the aircraft N219 will get a certificate CASR 23. In other words, this aircraft belongs to a category of light plane.

"(This aircraft is) lightweight but large," Rika said, in Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (7/8).

According to Rika, these aircraft will be dedicated in remote areas such as Papua. She is expected that the aircraft will be ease the people.

Rika explained that the production of the aircraft has been done up to 80 percent. It spent budget about Rp 400 billion, but the budget did not include studies conducted in the early stage.

The passenger seats can be adjusted to the concept of military aircraft as well as usual. Maximum weight of the aircraft is seven tons, includes all passengers.

“We already booked for 20 to 30 aircraft,” she said.
