Abdul Somad's lecture is soothing: Jusuf Kalla

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Preacher Abdul Somad managed to debunk claims of some parties who accused him intolerant, against Unitary State of Republik Indonesia, and against Pancasila. He has became a magnet to a wider Muslim communities, both online and offline.

He even has gained recognition from Vice President Jusuf Kalla. According to Kalla, preacher Abdul Somad has a strong references in conveying Islamic teachings. He praised the preacher from Pekanbaru, Riau province for his calmness. "His lectures are soothing, good and come with a strong reference that distinguishes him," Kalla said after attending morning lectures at Sunda Kelapa Mosque, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (Feb 4).

Kalla assessed preacher Somad for having a deep knowledge on Islam. He also saw Somad has the ability to deliver his lectures in a way that is easy to digest by all level of the society.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), preacher Abdul Somad is here with us today. It surely will be an enlightment. Probably, you have seen him a lot in Youtube, now you can see him directly. So can I," Kalla said while laughing. 

Last Sunday, preacher Somad has the opportunity to preach in front of Vice President Jusuf Kalla and officials of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) at Sunda Kelapa Mosque, Central Jakarta. They performed congregational dawn prayer and had breakfast together before having the morning lecture (dhuha).

Deputy Chief of National Police who is also the vice chairman of DMI, Syafruddin also got the same positive impression about the preacher who was intercepted by a number of people in Bali during his dawah safari on December 2017. Syafruddin claimed to have attended grand sermon (tabligh akbar) twice. The events went well and conducive. "He gave enlightenment and encouragement to the Indonesian Nation. In addition, the lecture from ustaz also provides a good religious orientation aspect," he remarked.
