REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Top Islamic body, Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI), asks all people in the world to take a lesson from Charlie Hebdo case. The lesson should become a lesson to learn the true meaning of freedom of speech.

"Make it as a precious lesson," the Head of Education of MUI, Anwas Abbas, said on Thursday, January 15.

Abbas explained that there was a limit in freedom of speech. The limit includes insulting other people as well as mocking other religions. The act will incite hatred and could lead to killing if one could not control themselves.

"If their right and belief is not respected, it is not impossible that they will react in either simple way or complex one," he said.
