Indonesia hopes to be top 10 in medal count of Asian Games

Asian Games to be held simultaneously in Jakarta and Palembang on Aug 18 - Sept 2.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Youth Affair and Sport Minister Imam Nahrowi has said the target of Indonesia in the 2018 Asian Games is to be among the top ten in the medal count. However, the government has not decide its specific target.

"For the medals, the President has set a target to be among the top ten. But, regarding the number of medals, what events, what the names (of the medalists) are and the toughest rival country, I will announce them in late June," he said here, Sunday.

The government is currently focusing on completing all venues of the 18th Asian Games. In early May 2018, all venues are expected to be ready.

The government is also concentrating on selecting athletes to compete in the Asian Games, by sending them to the national training program now.

The minister asked the leaders of Kedunglo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri to pray for the success of the implementation of the Asian Games to be held simultaneously in Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatra Province), on Aug 18 - Sept 2, 2108.
